On Nights Like This
On nights like this, I dream of you
when I feel alone and wonder this:
Will I ever find another love so true?
Did we ever know that between us two
we could create a world of bliss?
On nights like this, I dream of you.
We were so young and so scared to pursue
what we had. Now I regret this chance I missed.
Will I ever find another love so true?
I wonder if you feel the same, too,
or is it just a feeling that you've dismissed?
On nights like this, I dream of you.
Maybe you moved on, feelings that you withdrew,
leaving me here with my thoughts amiss.
Will I ever find another love so true?
This is all I have, thoughts of me and you,
the regret that we never shared one last kiss.
On nights like this, I dream of you.
Will I ever find another love so true?

great use of form man...and nice depth of feeling...regret...missed chances, yeah i feel those at times...and the back side of realizing too you might never find another so...
I really enjoyed this, if enjoyment can come from a remembrance of present/past sorrow. I wasn't familiar with the form. It deepened the emotional impact with the repeated lines. Thanks and Happy Poetry Month.
Denise, the form is a villanelle. It's something that I've wanted to try for a while now.
Vernon, you sound like a songwriter! Nice job on this.
Yes, the writer of this WILL find another love so true, or even truer, for love is always waiting and ruling.And... the best always yet to come.
Regret so hard...you captured it well. Nice write.
