I Wrote A Poem Today

I wrote a poem today.
Nothing major,
just a few lines about
the weather outside.

But it was a far cry
from yesterday
and the days before when
I wrote nothing at all.

I found myself faced with
too many procedures
to follow, conforming my
ability to think.

Creative juices?  Dormant,
buried under the
many other obligations
I am forced to honor.

But I wrote a poem today
and it doesn't matter
if I read it to the world
or keep it to myself.

I wrote today
and I hope tomorrow
will be like today
and I can say,

"I wrote a poem today."
