Poem To A Club Dancer

I wish you could save me,
save me from the mundane world
of the church ladies praying
I will be the one waiting
at the altar for their daughters,
standing at the ready to take
the place of man in their dreams.

I wish I could bring you
to stand by my side and show
everyone the type of woman
I dream about, let them see
your curves and your legs and
the way you know how
to use them both.

But I need to stop dreaming.
I can see you right
in front of me in the flesh,
but you are still just an
imaginary character playing
to the far-fetched fantasies
we pay accordingly to get
a peek at what we want to have.

stand by my side and show...nice word play in that...and yeah i think we need to know what we are looking for but also base it in reality as well...otherwise life can be very lonely...

You capture the feelings of many young men who see "her" in the perfecting magical lights! Great work, Vernon!

Oh that all your fantasies come true, for the church girls will never let you live them out. I really like the way you flipped the script per se. A fine write my friend. I know exactly what you're talking about too.

Like most dreams, the harsh daylight of reality depletes them.

So glad I found your blog via dVersePoets... I'll be watching from now on!

Been there, done that! Better you should connect with someone who will appreciate you for who you are...
