March Madness

It's that time of year
when spring is in the air
but people are holed up
in their houses like it's
the dead of winter,
when workplace productivity drops
as more eyes are on sports tickers
than the work at hand,
when talk about brackets fill the air
as fans and non-fans
try to figure out who will be
the winner of all of this.

It's that time of year.
Three weeks in March
where 94 feet of hardwood
plays host to one of the
greatest dramas known to man.
Household names and unknowns.
prohibitive favorites and Cinderellas,
young freshmen and grizzled veterans,
they all converge here
to this tournament they call
The Dance in this time they call
March Madness.
