She told me
she didn't believe in dating,
didn't believe in the whole
"boyfriend and girlfriend" thing.
that it was too much about
being "exclusive" and
being about"ownership"
and we're not meant for that.
She had been
in relationships before
and felt she gave up
too much of herself.
So now she takes this stance:
No more dates.
No more intimacy.
To her,
we are all God's children,
brothers and sisters in His eyes
and you just couldn't
date your siblings.
Many would say she is unusual,
maybe even strange,
but definitely not like the others,
those who try to fashion affairs
with a sense of idealism,
hoping their mates fit neatly
into the dreams they fashion.
But there's no need for
idealism or dreams.
She meets people in the now,
treating them all the same.
So if you can,
get "a date" out of your mind.
Enjoy the outing,
enjoy the time,
enjoy the conversation,
and enjoy being with her.
